The Canaima Lagoon, surrounded by exciting waterfalls, is according to the Pemon Indian legend; the place dwelled by the evil god Kanaimo. During the first decades of this century Canaima was visited by sarapia, gold and diamonds searchers.

Jimmy Angel, an American pilot, was one of them who during an emergency landing on the top of the Auyantepuy, had the opportunity to become the first outsider to see what would later be named Angel Falls, at the time only know by the Indians of the region.
