The National Park Canaima is located at the southeast of the Bolivar State at approximately 225 Km from the Orinoco River. In the area denominated Gran Sabana. Due the relevant and quality of its scenics and environmental resources, this area was decreed National Park on 1962 and its surface was expanded to 3 millions hectareas on 1975. Has been proposed as Natural Patrimony of the Humanity by the International Union for the Preservation of the Nature

 In this great area of magnific landscapes there are combined forest and savannas  with the spectacular Tepuyes , grandiose staircase landings of tubular shape with height up to 2.800 mts and with more than 3.500 million year of antiquity. The peculiar ecosystems at the top of the Tepuyes are inhabited by animal and vegetable species uniques in the world. From one of these the Auyantepuy sprouts the Angel Falls the highest water fall in the world, whit 1.005 mts height. The region is crossed by numerous rivers which more to the north and the after coming down from the  Gran Sabana feed the hydroelectric plants

 All the way long through the savannas of this region there are small communities of Pemones Indians which live of agriculture, hunting, fishing, handicraft and work related with the tourism.
