Angel Falls expeditions
During
the rainy season, from June to October, it is possible to go
on a river expedition all the way to the Angel falls. In this
trip navigation takes place in different rivers, departing
from Canaima or Kavac in Indian dugout canoes called curiaras
by the Pemon Indians of the area. During the ride through
these spectacular rivers, we will observe a changing landscape
of savannas, tepuys and jungles until arriving at the base of
the tallest and most impressive waterfall in the world.
Day 1.
Upon your arrival will start a walk up to the Canaima lagoon
and then will take a typic boat to go through the lagoon where
you may look at the plentiful and spectacular waterfalls along
with the spectacular landscape of the Tepuyes. After depart
from the
Carrao
River passing the Mapuya rapids and
Orquidea
Island, Overnight in a hammock camp.
Day 2.
Orquidea Island – Isla Ratoncito. Continue navigation on the
Carrao River Churun penetrating the Devil s Canyon on to the
Ratoncito
Island at the base of Angel Falls. Walk to the viewing spot
through the Auyantepuy jungle. Overnigth in a hammock camp
Day 3 Angel Falls- Canaima / Retur navigation to Canaima
